James T. Yang, B.D.S., D.D.S., D.M.Sc.
Dr. James Yang was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. He entered the prestigious National Taiwan University in 1979 as an undergraduate, completed a six-year program and received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree in 1986. Dr. Yang moved to the United States and settled in Los Angeles the very same year to further his academic pursuit. He entered the University of Southern California in the spring of 1988 and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the USC School of Dentistry in 1990 as an international student and having made Dean’s List for two trimesters. Dr. Yang then headed east to specialize in orthodontics and attended Harvard School of Dental Medicine and completed a six-year program. There, he received his Doctor of Medical Sciences degree in Oral Biology with high honors and his Certification in Orthodontics in 1996. He remained at Harvard and served as a clinical instructor for one year. After turning down a professorship position, Dr. Yang later moved to Florida to seek new opportunities before settling in Plantation in the following year and established SmilingYangs Orthodontics to provide superior orthodontic care and service in the community. In 2008, Dr. Yang opened and relocated to a new office to better serve his patients and their families with premier quality, comfort, and service.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, Florida Dental Association, Atlantic Coast Dental Association, Southern Association of Orthodontists, and the Florida Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Yang has been licensed to perform dentistry in two countries and across three states by the National Board of Dental Examination (Taiwan, R.O.C.), National Board of Dental Examination (United States), American Dental Association, California Board of Dental Examiners, Massachusetts Board of Registration in Dentistry, and the Florida State Board of Dentistry. He performs 40-50 hours of continuing education biannually to discover new practices and technologies to better adapt to the ever-changing orthodontic industry.
Dr. Yang lives with his wife, Christina, in Plantation with their two sons, Christopher and Matthew. He and his family spend time swimming, walking, playing baseball, watching baseball games, seeing movies, playing mahjong and performing community service.
